President Joe Biden took a direct hit at Vladimir Putin's inner circle on Tuesday, invoking sanctions on the Russian leader's deputy chief of staff, the head of his security agency and the CEO of the Russian-version of Facebook.  The targets on specific Russian individuals comes as part of what the administration is calling a 'first tranche' of sanctions in response to Putin declaring two parts of Ukraine as independent republics. 'Yesterday Vladimir Putin recognized two regions of Ukraine as independent states and he bizarrely asserted that these regions are no longer part of Ukraine and they are sovereign territory,' Biden said at the White House on Tuesday.

Home prices surged 18.8 percent last year, according to the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller US National Home Price index, the biggest jump since its creation and much more than the 10.4 percent jump seen in 2020. Fueled by remote work and booming regional economies, mass migration to the South, Southwest and Mountain West drove some of the sharpest increases in home prices, as demand outstripped supply. The biggest increase in home prices took place in Phoenix, where they rose 32.5 percent. Other hotspots include Tampa, where the jump was 29.4 percent, and in Miami, which saw a 27.3 percent rise. There was also strong price appreciation in San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver and Los Angeles. 'The influx of new investment is pulling in new residents from the Northeast, many of whom have sold homes at prices well above the median in Tampa and Miami, which allows them to bid aggressively for the paucity of homes that are on the market,' said Mark Vitner, a senior economist at Wells Fargo in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A Wisconsin restaurant worker was shot in the face last month after a pair of customers grew angry over a $3 hamburger missing from their order. Shockingly, Anthony Rodriguez (at left with son and inset), 26, survived the January 30 shooting, which left his spine fractured and portion of the bullet still lodged in his throat. 'I do remember just laying on the ground and just bleeding out,' Rodriguez, wearing a neck brace to support his fractured spine, recalled to local outlet WISN-TV last week of the brazen late-night attack at a Wauwatosa George Webb location, where he worked as a server. 'I was in so much shock. I don't really remember being in much pain, but I remember kind of internally freaking out and being very scared and just telling myself, "Wow, I'm probably gonna die here."' A criminal complaint filed by the Wauwatosa Police Department chronicling the incident details how twin sisters Bryanna (top center) and Breanta Johnson (top right), along with two other women, were ordering food from Rodriguez at the eatery, when employees said the group started becoming 'impatient and rude' while waiting for a food order.

Donald Trump praised Vladimir Putin's plan to invade Ukraine as 'genius' and called the Russian leader 'very savvy' on Tuesday, hours after he put out a statement saying Russia would have never invaded Ukraine under his watch. Speaking with conservative podcaster Buck Sexton, the former president said: 'I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, "This is genius,"' Trump recalled. 'Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine - of Ukraine -- Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that's wonderful.' 'I said, "How smart is that?'" the former U.S. president continued. 'And he's gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That's the strongest peace force… We could use that on our southern border. That's the strongest peace force I've ever seen. There were more army tanks than I've ever seen. They're gonna keep peace all right.'

Putin's poodle parliament approves his request to 'use force outside Russia' - paving way for attack on more of Ukraine - after he sent 10,000 troops into Russian-held separatist areas: WH finally admits it's an invasion

More than 10,000 soldiers entered separatist-occupied areas overnight, a source with links to Ukrainian military intelligence told MailOnline, with 6,000 sent to Donetsk, 5,000 to Luhansk and 1,500 to the city of Horlivka. 'It is difficult to believe [Putin] could have moved that quickly - but he had a long time to prepare,' the source said. It comes as a White House official declared the Russian military's movement to be an 'invasion.' Meanwhile Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin's order to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk as independent stretches to the entire provinces - not just the areas currently occupied by rebels - raising the prospect he is about to launch a land-grab and spark direct confrontation with Ukrainian troops dug into trenches there.

Germany halted the Nord Stream 2 pipeline after Putin declared regions of Ukraine 'independent republics' and pressure mounts for President Biden to get tougher on Russia.

Emmanuel Macron was ridiculed last night over his diplomatic efforts to avert war in Ukraine. Marine Le Pen mocked him for claiming he had secured a potential negotiation with Vladimir Putin.

Vladimir Putin is most often pictured with other heads of state at official gatherings, during displays of military strength in his home nation or - rather famously - enjoying fishing and hunting in the Russian countryside. But that was not always the case. There was a time when a younger Vladimir was captured moodily staring down the camera during class photos at school or when he would pose for the camera dressed in a trendy leather jacket and pout to match. These fascinating images show him during his formative years: From a moody little boy to a romantic teenager;  From judo-loving KGB officer to dancing and falling in love; From getting married to having children. Images show Putin, who was known to spoil his two young daughters born in 1985 and 1986, doting on and playing with them in a jarring image for the Russian strongman who has been accused of bringing the world to the brink of war over Ukraine today. The strongman, who born in what was then the Soviet city of Leningrad, now known as Saint Petersburg, has for months massed troops along the border with Ukraine, encircling the nation and coming within striking distance of the capital, Kiev, before ordering troops into two regions held by pro-Russian separatists on February 21.

President Joe Biden continues to garner low marks for his tenure in the Oval Office as a new poll shows Americans' faith in his foreign policy has dropped during the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

The US, UK and its European allies are poised to announce new sanctions against Russia after President Vladimir Putin formally recognized the two regions in eastern Ukraine.

Former President Trump claimed that Vladimir Putin never would have invaded Ukraine if he were still president, and said that Russia has become 'very very rich' under President Biden.

Stocks fell on Wall Street in afternoon trading Tuesday after Russia sent forces into Ukraine's eastern regions, escalating tensions, and President Joe Biden announced sanctions.

We have been utter fools, writes PETER HITCHENS (pictured in Moscow in 2007). We have treated Russia with amazing stupidity. Now we pay the price for that. We had the chance to make her an ally, friend and partner. Instead we turned her into an enemy by insulting a great and proud country with greed, unearned superiority, cynicism, contempt and mistrust. I have to endure, often several times a day, listening to people who are normally perfectly sensible and reasonable, raging wildly against Russia and Russians. Once, I was just like them. I had the normal anti-Russian prejudice of so many Western people. But, by great fortune, I am not like them now. I lived in Russia, I knew Russians as friends. I learned to distinguish between what was Russian and what was Communist. Pictured: Vladimir Putin (top right) and Boris Yeltsin (left, bottom right).

Chaos at Ohio Senate race debate as Republican Josh Mandel shouts at audience member who said he should be 'put out' for calling BLM 'thugs' - and then calls his Democratic rival 'like AOC only dumber'

Roughly 20 minutes into the event Mandel was being grilled about his calling BLM protesters 'thugs' in their first debate when an audience member made a loud noise of agreement. 'And you ain't coming in the black community. Put 'em out,' the female voice can be heard saying. Mandel, who previously served as Ohio's state treasurer, is running in a crowded GOP primary up against a number of other high-profile candidates including Hillbilly Elegy author JD Vance and former Ohio Republican Party Chair Jane Timken.

Two $6m Black Hawk helicopters crash land near Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah after botched landing on mountainside during National Guard training

Two Army Black Hawk helicopters were captured crashing near the Mineral Basin area in Utah (right) during a National Guard training exercise. At 9:30 am two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were damaged during a training exercise when the lead aircraft kicked up snow while landing and portions of the helicopter's blade separated and struck the second helicopter's main rotor blades, Utah National Guard Aviation spokesman Lt. Jared Jones (right) said in a press conference. The crash took place near the Mineral Basin, a backside bowl area at the Snowbird Ski Resort about 28 miles from Salt Lake City. Ahmaud Arbery's family celebrates outside court after his three murderers are convicted of federal hate crimes: Jury rules the three white men chased and shot jogger because he was black

Travis McMichael, his dad Gregory McMichael, and friend Roddy Bryan, who filmed the February 2020 murder in Macon, Georgia, were convicted Tuesday morning. The McMichaels were already serving life without parole after being convicted of murder at state trial and Bryan was serving life with the possibility of parole after 15 years, but he now faces extra time because of the federal conviction. After the verdict, the Arbery family announced plans to file civil lawsuits now that the criminal investigations and trials are complete. It is unclear who they will file charges against. Unlike the state murder trial last year, the federal trial focused mostly on the racial elements of the case and the slurs the men used against Arbery. The men all pleaded not guilty, insisting as they did at their state trial that they chased and killed Arbery because they thought he was a burglar.

However, the suspect decided to accelerate, running over Amaro with her front bumper. Amaro was able to hold on to the hood of the car for 150 feet before the suspect hard-braked, prompting her to fall off. The suspect then got out of her vehicle and punched Amaro several times before driving away. Amaro has fully recovered from the incident, but Richmond Police are still on the lookout for the suspect

Trinity competed for the University of Florida's Gators, who beat the University of Kentucky's Wildcats 197.575 - 197.35, claiming her 20th all-around win.
